Market context

The San Diego Padres travel to Philadelphia on 2 June for an evening matchup against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Polymarket currently prices the Padres' victory at 42% (USDC on Polygon), implying roughly 58% probability for a Philadelphia win. The settlement window extends to 9 June, allowing for postponements within that five-day buffer. The conditional token structure means traders holding YES tokens receive full payout only if the Padres win outright; any cancellation or tie triggers a 50-50 split of the pool.

Historically, the Phillies have held a slight edge in recent regular-season matchups, winning 11 of the last 20 games against San Diego since 2022. Philadelphia's home-field advantage at Citizens Bank Park typically adds 2–3 percentage points to win probability in prediction markets. The Padres, however, have shown inconsistency this season, whilst the Phillies' rotation depth has been a consistent factor in their favour during June fixtures.

Key variables for traders include starting pitcher announcements, which typically arrive 24–48 hours before game time. Recent injury reports matter significantly: the Phillies have managed their bullpen workload carefully after a heavy May schedule, whilst San Diego's outfield depth remains a question mark heading into June. Weather conditions at Citizens Bank Park—particularly wind direction affecting fly balls—historically shift probabilities by 1–2 points in evening games. Monitor official MLB communications for any scheduling changes, as the settlement window's extension suggests organisers anticipate potential weather disruptions.

Resolution & payout

Resolution source: This market settles from the official publication at https://www.mlb.com/. A proposer submits the result to the UMA Optimistic Oracle on Polygon, the two-hour challenge window opens, and the smart contract pays out in USDC.

Settlement runs on-chain. Polymarket's contract logic separates YES and NO shares as conditional tokens; at resolution the winning share lifts to $1.00 and the losing one to $0. The outcome input comes from the UMA Optimistic Oracle, which secures against bad resolution with a bond + dispute window.

Once finalised, the smart contract pays USDC to the holders' wallets within minutes — no withdrawal fees beyond Polygon network gas. Kalshi settles in USD via CFTC clearance, Betfair in account currency net of commission, Manifold in play-money mana with no cash-out.

FAQ

Is this market available outside the US?
Polymarket itself is geo-blocked in the US/UK/EU. Always check the legal status of prediction markets in your jurisdiction before trading.
