Can You Use a Debit Card on Polymarket?

Polymarket does not support debit card transactions directly. The platform operates on-chain and exclusively accepts USDC deposits via the Polygon network. That said, residents in the UK can readily fund their Polymarket account using a debit card by routing funds through an intermediary crypto exchange—a straightforward process requiring only a handful of actions.

How to Deposit via Debit Card (UK)

  • Step 1: Open an account with Coinbase, Kraken, or Revolut (each of these platforms accepts UK Visa and Mastercard)
  • Step 2: Finish the exchange's identity verification process (usually takes moments once you submit a passport or driving licence)
  • Step 3: Purchase USDC using your debit card through the exchange
  • Step 4: Transfer your USDC to a MetaMask wallet configured for the Polygon blockchain
  • Step 5: Move funds from MetaMask into your Polymarket account balance

Which UK Exchanges Accept Debit Cards?

The majority of established crypto platforms serving UK customers will process Visa and Mastercard debit cards for purchasing digital assets:

  • Coinbase UK — Accepts Visa/Mastercard, immediate settlement, approximately 1.5% charge
  • Revolut — Allows USDC purchases within the mobile app using your Revolut card, minimal charges
  • Kraken — Supports Visa/Mastercard, around 1.5% fee, holds FCA authorisation
  • Binance UK — Accepts Visa/Mastercard, reasonable pricing structure

Are There Bank Restrictions?

Certain UK financial institutions (including Starling and particular Lloyds accounts) may refuse crypto-related card payments. Should your payment fail, reach out to your bank to enable crypto transactions, or switch to a bank with established crypto support (Revolut, Monzo, Wise).

Total Time: Debit Card to Trading

For those with pre-existing verified exchange accounts: fewer than 10 minutes. For new accounts using expedited identity checks: roughly 30–60 minutes.
